Tools for the Moment

This is a challenging moment. We are living in times of separation and polarization—whether through our physical, political, or technological experiences—and, let’s be honest, separation is hard for humans. (As it should be; social connection is a key factor in our mental and physical health.) To move forward we must be present in the moment, to take care of ourselves, and then to take care of others. Here are some tools that can help you do that:

Time in nature. Take a walk outside, look at the trees, lean against one, and feel the strength of its trunk supporting you as you stand there.

Equal breathing practice. Inhale and exhale for the same amount of time (four breaths in, four breaths out). With equal breathing or Sama Vritti breath, watch the breath to bring your mind and body into rhythm.

Movement, exercise. Moving your body is a simple way to connect to your physical being. Move with intention, taking notice of the body as you do so. This is your body, live it.

Scent. Smelling things with intention can quickly bring you into the present. It activates the olfactory system, a direct pathway to the brain's emotional and memory centers, offering a simple yet powerful way to ground yourself and connect with the moment.

In 2025, another tool I will reach for is Quan Yin Wisdom Spray. Chock full of beautiful botanical oils, channeled by Master Channel Melissa Halsey and handmade here at FLWR Napa Valley, this aromatic room, body, and aura mist evokes a bouquet of fresh flowers.

The spray, created to support self-compassion, self-love, and self-acceptance, is a heady floral combination of jasmine, ylang ylang, and neroli. These scents combine to create a creamy, soft foundation, while hints of rose and lavender ground the more ethereal white floral quality of the scent.

Jasmine is known for its ability to evoke lightness and joy, inspire confidence, and alleviate stress. Ylang-ylang helps reduce anxiety and supports self-esteem. Neroli eases tension, and reduces stress and anxiety, uplifting the spirit. Rose is a balm for the heart, easing grief, and fostering emotional openness. Lavender soothes the nerves, reduces stress, and promotes inner peace. Together, these botanicals harmonize to nurture emotional well-being.

Vibrationally activated to calm you instantly, offering support as you connect to your own, deep well of self-compassion.

So, take a walk outside, breathe deeply, and employ your tools. It’s 2025. Let’s get to it.
