FLWR Napa Valley is a fine perfume house creating handmade, botanical scents designed to connect you with yourself. With a focus on the energetic properties of flowers, we bring the power of the plant world into the human world.

Most of us encounter some element of the natural world in our daily lives, even if it’s just a distant tree out an apartment window or a cup of chamomile tea before bed. But there is a much wider range of ways to experience plants and flowers, including by using their botanical materials in the creation of fine perfumes and scents. 

Made by hand in the Napa Valley, all FLWR products are created exclusively from natural materials, and are free from synthetics, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, formaldehydes, and UV inhibitors.

SCENT: NATURE’S PORTAL

Scent, more than any other sense, is directly related to memory and emotion. Ultimately, there is a very simple reason why this is the case: the way our brains are structured. The olfactory bulb takes information about scents directly to the part of the brain that processes memory and emotion (the hippocampus and amygdala, respectively, if we’re feeling technical). Countless studies have shown that scent, memory, and emotion are biologically linked. 

So what does that have to do with perfume? Quite a lot, actually. If the scents we surround ourselves with have the power to trigger our memories and emotions, why not ensure that trigger comes from nature, not a laboratory?

LIVING SCENTS

Scents made from botanical materials have olfactory life cycles of their own. Like other living things, the notes in these scents have a beginning, middle, and end; they evolve and eventually dissipate as you wear them throughout the day. 

Unlike conventional perfumes that have been chemically designed to stay put for hours or days, often through the use of potential endocrine-disruptors, like phthalates, FLWR Napa Valley products are made exclusively from natural materials. Reapplying your FLWR products as desired throughout the day keeps their olfactory life cycle going.

SCENT AS A PORTAL TO BEAUTY

Jess Mennella is a perfumer, flower essence therapist, and educator for whom the world of beauty and the vibrational power of nature are inextricably linked. Drawing from her training in natural perfumery, flower essence therapy, and meditation, she uses a range of techniques in the development of FLWR Napa Valley’s scents. 

This combination of botanicals, spirit, and place creates scents that invite a connection both to beauty and to oneself. 

A longtime student of world-renowned natural perfumer, Mandy Aftel, Jess has also studied flower essence therapy with the Flower Essence Society. After a career in financial services and luxury retail, she established FLWR Napa Valley in 2018 to offer exquisite scents designed to enable the wearer to step into the world as their true self.
