Go Inward

If you know me, you know I spend a lot of time reflecting on why scent has such a huge impact on well-being. It’s incredible to think about how something as simple as a smell can transform how you feel instantly.
There is an immediate shift when you smell something you love—a favorite food, fresh flowers, the scent of a baby’s head. You’re happier, calmer, more relaxed.
It’s like a tiny, invisible switch gets flipped in your brain.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how scent works in the brain. When you take in a smell, it travels directly from the nose to the olfactory bulb and connects to the brain via the olfactory nerve.
Unlike other senses (taste, touch, vision, or hearing), scent bypasses the thalamus (the main “relay station” in our brain for all our other senses) and goes straight to the amygdala (which processes emotions) and the hippocampus (which handles memory).
That’s likely why certain smells can trigger vivid memories or emotions instantly.
You can think of this pathway as a quick hack to calm the mind. When you smell something you love, it doesn’t just stop at your nose—it’s a direct line to the parts of your brain that can spark joy and ease anxiety.
As things speed up and the world becomes more chaotic, it’s important to find ways to go inward, to center yourself, and to connect with something beyond the everyday. Scent is one simple, pleasurable way to do just that.
The Ancients is a scent of Divine Femininity.
In a nod to the goddesses who inspired its creation, this plant-based, amber rose perfume is made with botanicals that have been used since ancient times for ritual and pleasure. The Ancients celebrates the feminine strength within us all.
